I’m thankful for them. The men that God has placed in my husband’s life are such a gift.
Two Fridays ago, two of them drove from two hours away to have dinner with Steve and hang out until the wee hours of Saturday morning.
I got to spend a few minutes with them when they stopped by the house to collect my husband for their time together. It was comfortable and fun and real and easy to talk about deep things for five minutes and laugh for five more before sending them all on their way with a Have fun!
Last Friday, I returned from a busy day at school doing all things Valentines with my class. I was exhausted at the end of an exhausting week and surprised to find a package on the table.
Who would be sending a package of Chukar Cherries that need to be opened immediately? This is very strange.
True confession time here. My stress level was at such a heightened alert, and I was operating in such crisis mode, that my first instinct was Don’t open it!
I stood there suspended in a place of total curiosity and total fear.
When I was finally ready to accept whatever outcome would result from opening the box, and had cleared the room of the kids, I cut the packing tape.
And rather than finding myself in eternity, I found myself with this.
A box of delicious, cherry goodness accompanied by a kind card from the guys.
Thanks, Evan and Tegan. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Thank you for your friendship. You both are a gift to Steve and that means to me, as well!
What a sweet surprise!
